Mar Rivera

Who I Am

I'm a Mexican director, producer, and historian,  graduate of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

From an intimate and close perspective,

I explore the effects of violence on people’s everyday lives, memory as a place we continuously inhabit—shaping who we are—and desire as the force that moves us to act.

In every story I tell, I find myself: my memory, my pain, my desire, and my affections.

I am currently directing, writing, and co-producing my debut feature film, Mamá Lulú, a project supported by IMCINE and selected in audiovisual industry forums and markets across Latin America.

I am an archive researcher and producer in documentary and academic projects, specializing in working with public archives and private collections. I have experience in the search, organization, cataloging, and management of visual and audiovisual materials, as well as in the consolidation of archives and documentary databases.

I am also an activist with the Peace with Justice and Dignity movement, participating in processes that demand justice and contribute to the construction of collective memory in contexts of systemic violence in Mexico.
